Students are invited to enter this year’s B’nai B’rith Capital Area Holocaust Essay Contest. 


This year’s essay topic is:

What lessons can we learn from the rise of Fascism in Germany and the Holocaust in Europe?  Can a similar abuse of power occur today and, if so, how might you contribute toward preventing it?

Teachers should submit their students’ essays/cover pages by Thursday 19 April, preferably via e-mail (, or via regular mail postmarked by 19 April to:

In addition to cash prizes to winning students, certificates will be awarded to students, sponsoring teachers, and schools.  The Award Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday evening 6 June at 7 p.m. at the Community Room of the Jewish Federation (184 Washington Avenue Extension, Albany, NY  12203).
