Capital Area Writing Contest

Students are invited to enter this year’s B’nai B’rith Capital Area Holocaust Essay Contest. 

 

This year’s essay topic is:

What lessons can we learn from the rise of Fascism in Germany and the Holocaust in Europe?  Can a similar abuse of power occur today and, if so, how might you contribute toward preventing it?

 

Contest information, as well as Holocaust teaching and study resources suitable for Middle School and High School students, may be viewed at www.bbhec.org.

 

Teachers should submit their students’ essays/cover pages by Thursday 19 April, preferably via e-mail (bam@bbhec.org), or via regular mail postmarked by 19 April to:

In addition to cash prizes to winning students, certificates will be awarded to students, sponsoring teachers, and schools.  The Award Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday evening 6 June at 7 p.m. at the Community Room of the Jewish Federation (184 Washington Avenue Extension, Albany, NY  12203).
